A quick and easy one-pan meal featuring tender salmon and crisp-tender asparagus coated in a sticky, savory honey garlic glaze. Ready in under 20 minutes, this recipe is perfect for busy weeknights and requires minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 pound), woody ends trimmed
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper. Trim woody ends off asparagus. Mince garlic. Squeeze lemon juice. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering (about 2 minutes).
  3. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot pan. Cook undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until skin is crispy and golden. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until just cooked through. Transfer to a plate and tent with foil.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the pan. Add asparagus in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until bright green and tender-crisp. Season with a pinch of salt.
  5. Push asparagus to one side. Add butter and minced garlic to the empty space; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in honey-soy mixture and stir. Let bubble and reduce for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Return salmon to the pan, nestling among asparagus. Spoon sauce over salmon and asparagus. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over everything. Warm through for 30 seconds.
  7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pat salmon dry for best sear. Let salmon come to room temperature before cooking. Don’t overcrowd the pan. Watch garlic carefully to avoid burning. Use a fish spatula for easier flipping. Sauce can burn quickly, so don’t walk away during that step.
