A magical Halloween punch that creates a ghostly fog effect without dry ice, using simple ingredients like coconut milk and vanilla. This budget-friendly, kid-safe drink is sweet, fruity, and perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups orange juice
  • 4 cups lemonade
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 liter ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • 1 can (13.5 oz) full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the punch base (5 minutes): In your punch bowl or dispenser, combine the orange juice, lemonade, and pineapple juice. Stir gently to mix. This can be done up to 24 hours ahead and stored in the fridge.
  2. Add the frozen fruit (2 minutes): Toss in the frozen mango chunks and frozen raspberries. Don’t stir too much—you want them to float around and look creepy.
  3. Chill the punch (at least 2 hours): Put the punch bowl in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. This step is important because the fog effect works best when the punch is very cold and the fog mixture is warm.
  4. Make the fog mixture (10 minutes): About 15 minutes before serving, make the fog. In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, water, and sugar. Whisk over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth. Don’t let it boil—just get it warm enough that steam starts rising. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add vanilla and cinnamon (1 minute): Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and cinnamon if using. Give it one more whisk to make sure everything is combined.
  6. Pour the fog into the punch (30 seconds): Slowly pour the warm coconut mixture into the cold punch. Don’t dump it all at once—pour it in a steady stream and watch the fog roll across the surface.
  7. Add the soda right before serving (1 minute): Slowly pour in the ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Stir gently—you want to keep the bubbles but also mix the soda into the punch.
  8. Serve immediately: Ladle the punch into cups, making sure each serving gets a few pieces of frozen fruit. The fog will start to fade after about 10-15 minutes, but you can refresh it by warming up a little more coconut milk mixture and pouring it in again.

Notes

Full-fat coconut milk is essential for the fog effect—light coconut milk won’t work. The punch needs to be very cold and the fog mixture warm (around 140°F) for best results. Add soda right before serving to keep it fizzy. Make extra fog mixture to refresh the effect throughout the party. Frozen fruit keeps the punch cold without watering it down like ice cubes would.
