These Easy No-Bake Christmas Oreo Balls are a quick, simple, and delicious holiday treat made with crushed Oreos, cream cheese, and melted chocolate. They come together in just 15 minutes of active work and are perfect for last-minute parties, cookie exchanges, or festive snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) regular Oreo cookies
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 12 oz semi-sweet or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening
  • Christmas sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or festive sanding sugar (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (cream filling and all) into a food processor. Pulse until you have fine, uniform crumbs (like sand). This takes about 30 seconds. Alternatively, place cookies in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  2. Mix the base: Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a large mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese and mix until completely combined. Use your hands for best results; after about 2 minutes, you should have a uniform, dark brown dough that holds together when pressed. If too dry, add another tablespoon of cream cheese; if too sticky, add more crushed Oreos.
  3. Form the balls: Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out the mixture and roll it between your palms into smooth balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet. You should get about 24 to 30 balls.
  4. Chill the balls: Refrigerate the baking sheet for at least 30 minutes (or 20 minutes in the freezer). This step is essential for easier dipping.
  5. Melt the chocolate: Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until about 80% melted. Stir until smooth. Be careful not to overheat.
  6. Dip the balls: Remove a few chilled Oreo balls from the fridge at a time. Drop one ball into the melted chocolate. Use a fork to roll it around until fully coated. Lift it out, tap the fork handle against the bowl to let excess chocolate drip off, and slide it back onto the parchment paper. Work quickly.
  7. Add decorations: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle on decorations (sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or sea salt).
  8. Set the chocolate: Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm. For a quicker set, use the freezer for about 10 minutes.

Notes

Use regular Oreos, not double-stuf. Let cream cheese soften at room temperature for 30 minutes. For a smooth coating, add coconut oil or shortening to the chocolate. Work in small batches to keep balls cold. If chocolate cracks, let balls sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before dipping. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
