These crispy witch finger breadsticks are a fun and spooky Halloween snack with a garlicky warmth, perfect for dipping in marinara sauce. Easy to make and a crowd-pleaser for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16 oz / 450 g) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Almond slivers (for nails)
  • Optional: a pinch of smoked paprika
  • 1 cup (240 ml) marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves or dried basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll your pizza dough into a roughly 12×8-inch (30×20 cm) rectangle.
  3. Slice the dough into 10-12 strips, about 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 4 cm) wide.
  4. Pinch and slightly pull the dough at one end to create a tapered fingertip. Score 2-3 knuckle lines along each finger with a knife.
  5. Press an almond sliver into the tapered end of each finger to form nails. Use a little melted butter underneath if needed to help them stick.
  6. Mix melted butter with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and smoked paprika if using. Brush this mixture generously over each finger.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and crisp around the edges. Check after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
  8. While baking, warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over low heat with olive oil, stirring occasionally.
  9. Let breadsticks cool for a couple of minutes, then serve with warm marinara sauce and basil garnish if desired.

Notes

Score the dough gently to create knuckle lines without splitting the breadsticks. Brush garlic butter before and optionally after baking for extra crispness and shine. Almond slivers can be substituted with pumpkin seeds or pecans. For extra crunch, broil for 30 seconds to 1 minute after baking, watching carefully to avoid burning. Leftovers reheat best in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
