These creamy chocolate dipped frozen banana pops are a quick and easy treat combining ripe bananas and smooth melted chocolate for a refreshing and indulgent snack.

  • 4 ripe bananas, peeled and cut in half
  • 8 ounces (225g) good-quality dark or milk chocolate
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts (almonds, peanuts, or hazelnuts), shredded coconut, sprinkles or crushed cookies, sea salt flakes
  • 8 wooden popsicle sticks or bamboo skewers

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut 4 ripe bananas in half crosswise. Insert a wooden popsicle stick or bamboo skewer into the flat end of each banana half. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour until firm.
  2. Chop 8 ounces (225g) of chocolate into small pieces. Melt in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth, or melt over a double boiler on low heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove the bananas from the freezer. Quickly dip each banana half into the melted chocolate, covering fully or partially. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  4. Immediately sprinkle optional toppings over the chocolate before it sets.
  5. Place the dipped banana pops back on the parchment-lined tray and freeze for an additional 30 minutes or until the chocolate is fully hardened.
  6. Serve and enjoy. Store any extras in an airtight container in the freezer.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for creamier texture. Melt chocolate carefully to avoid seizing. Work quickly when dipping to prevent chocolate from hardening too fast. Warm chocolate slightly if it hardens during dipping. Store pops in airtight container with parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
