A refreshing and bold alcohol-free mocktail combining the sweet juiciness of watermelon with a spicy kick of jalapeño, finished with a tangy Tajín rim. Perfect for hot afternoons and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed
  • 1 small jalapeño pepper, sliced (remove seeds for milder heat)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 12 tablespoons agave nectar or honey
  • 1 cup sparkling water (plain or lime-flavored)
  • Tajín seasoning for rimming the glass
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional garnish: lime wedges and thin jalapeño slices

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed watermelon into a blender or food processor and blend on high until smooth and juicy. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer no pulp. Set aside.
  2. Place jalapeño slices in a sturdy glass or small bowl and muddle gently with a muddler or wooden spoon to release spicy oils without pulverizing. Remove seeds for less heat if desired.
  3. In a pitcher or large glass, combine fresh lime juice and agave nectar or honey. Stir until the sweetener dissolves completely.
  4. Add the watermelon juice and muddled jalapeño to the lime and sweetener mixture. Stir gently and let sit for a few minutes to infuse flavors.
  5. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass. Dip the rim into Tajín seasoning on a shallow plate to coat evenly.
  6. Fill the Tajín-rimmed glasses with ice cubes. Pour the watermelon jalapeño mixture over the ice until about 3/4 full. Top off with sparkling water.
  7. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and a thin jalapeño slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Muddle jalapeño gently to control heat. Fresh ingredients like watermelon and lime juice are key for best flavor. Adjust sweetness with agave or honey to taste. Rim glasses with Tajín for signature tangy, salty chili flavor. Store mocktail base without sparkling water in fridge up to 24 hours; add sparkling water and ice before serving.
